About PASIDA

Africa's expertise, organised.

Pan African Sustainability, Innovation and Development Associates exists because the continent does not lack expertise — it lacks the connective tissue that turns scattered expertise into visible, commissionable capacity.

Mission

Connect, empower, mobilise.

To connect, empower and mobilise African professionals to deliver evidence-based solutions in energy, water and climate — and to make that expertise easy for institutions to find and commission.

Vision

Designed, led and delivered by Africans.

An Africa whose sustainable development is designed, led and delivered by Africans, informed by rigorous evidence and shared openly across the continent.

Origin

From a PAUWES cohort to a continental network.

PASIDA began among specialists connected to the Pan African University Institute of Water and Energy Sciences and is now open to African professionals across the continent and its diaspora — policy and technical, emerging and senior.

Principles

What we hold ourselves to

  • African-led

Solutions are designed by people accountable to the communities that live with the results.

  • Evidence first

Positions are published with sources, methods and limitations stated plainly.

  • Open by default

Knowledge is public unless a client agreement requires otherwise.

  • Intergenerational

Early-career researchers work alongside senior practitioners, by design.

  • Continental, not national

Problems follow basins, grids and climate systems — so does the network.

  • Practical

Every output is judged on whether someone can act on it.

Operating model

How the organisation is held together.

  1. Advisory Board

Independent oversight of strategy, ethics and research integrity.

  2. Executive Director

Accountable for delivery, partnerships and the secretariat.

  3. Research & Advisory leadership

Quality of research outputs and commissioned engagements.

  4. Talent & Operations

Vetting, roster management, contracting and Associate payment.

  5. Regional Coordinators

Continental coverage across North, West, Central, East and Southern Africa.

  6. Associates & Contributors

The practitioners and writers who do the work.

Sustaining the work

Mission-aligned funding supports research, publishing and convening. Earned revenue from Advisory work and Associate placement builds delivery capacity and paid opportunity for African professionals. Each is reported separately.
